Update on the project

This is a small project that one of our former members Finn Ronne got involved in while living in the Philippines. A typhoon destroyed a bunch of houses along the shoreline that very poor people who had little or nothing lived in. The Rotary club in that area decided to build 100 houses in 100 days. They are really just steel pipe framed shelters but according to Fin they are still better than what most had before the storm.

After reading about this in our local paper we contacted Finn and at our regular meeting asked our members to help these unfortunate people. The idea of buying a house for $250.00 caught on and we have at least 9 purchased by our members and members of the downtown club have purchased 3 to date. We are also exploring funding through our district to purchase more.  Our club will pay the difference to make the $250.00 CDN donation, a $250 US donation.

Dear fellow Rotarians;

In behalf of RC Boracay we would like to express our gratitude to the members of RC Daybreak for opening their hearts to the victims of Typhoon Seniang who destroyed countless homes on the island ofBoracay

Our special thanks go also to Rotarian Finn and his fund raising initiatives.

With the help of your generous club, the project is well on its way.

Thank you very much again!
